Artist Statement
My work in the past has been driven by the unknown and my fascination with the idea that there are hidden things in this world beyond our understanding. I found inspiration for my pieces from my various interest that are ever evolving and changing. I did research on them by reading and watching documentaries usually on spiritualities, mythology, esoteric ideas, and nature. I took the information I learned and tried to not depict it too literally so it leaves a bit of mystery in them because that’s where the fascination stems; the fact that we can never truly know. The purpose of past work was to further the discourse of the spiritual, ethereal, and esoteric. I'm currently in the process of redirecting the course of my work. My goal is a rediscovering of myself through finding my true voice from within my artwork. What I love about art is it allows us the creation of spaces to postulate and discuss. I work mainly in oil and my work generally takes days to weeks to months to complete depending on their complexity. My pieces start as photographic references taken by myself, sometimes creating my own props if I cannot find what I need to help visually see what the end goal of my painting will be.
